1/3 C. (75 mL) Crisco® All-Vegetable Shortening, cold
1/2 C. (125 mL) milk
1 egg white
2 Tbsp. (30 mL) brown sugar, packed
Preheat oven to 425ºF (220ºC). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Combine flour, sugar and baking powder in a large bowl. Stir well to combine.
Add cold shortening and cut into small pieces using a pastry blender, 2 knives or a fork.
Combine egg and milk. Add to dry ingredients making a soft dough. Knead gently and press dough into a ball. Then shape dough so that it is 3/4” (2 cm) thick. Cut into 8 triangles and place on prepared sheet. Brush with egg white and sprinkle with brown sugar.
Bake in preheated oven for 12 to 15 minutes, until lightly golden.
