Asian Grilled Steaks with Spicy Herb Sauce

INGREDIENTS

Asian Grilled Steaks with Spicy Herb Sauce

  • Marinade
  • 1/3 C. (75 mL) Crisco® Pure Vegetable Oil
  • 3 Tbsp. (45 mL) sugar
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp. (22 mL) minced garlic
  • 1 Tbsp. (15 mL) sesame oil
  • 1 tsp. (5 mL) red pepper flakes
  • 1/2 tsp. (2 mL) salt
  • 6 strip steaks, 1 inch thick (2.5 cm), 3/4 pound (375 g) each
  • salt and pepper, to taste
  • Spicy Herb Sauce
  • 1 C. (250 mL) cilantro, minced
  • 1/4 C. (50 mL) Crisco® Pure Vegetable Oil
  • 1 Tbsp. (15 mL) fresh lime juice
  • 3 Tbsp. (45 mL) soy sauce
  • 1 1/2 tsp. (7 mL) minced garlic
  • 1/2 tsp. (2 mL) sesame oil
  • 1/2 tsp. (2 mL) minced jalapeno pepper

DIRECTIONS

  1. Marinade: Stir together oil, sugar, garlic, sesame oil, pepper flakes and salt in a one gallon (1 L) resealable plastic bag. Stir until sugar is dissolved. Add steaks, turning to coat. Marinate in refrigerator for 1 hour, turning occasionally.
  2. Spicy Herb Sauce: Stir together cilantro, vegetable oil, lime juice, soy sauce, garlic, sesame oil and jalepeno.
  3. Steaks: Remove steaks from marinade; season with salt and pepper. Cook steaks on a medium-hot grill for 3 to 4 minutes per side, for medium rare. Top each steak with sauce. Serve with remaining sauce on the side.
