Stir-Fried Broccoli with Ginger Recipe

INGREDIENTS

Stir-Fried Broccoli with Ginger

  • Sauce
  • 2 Tbsp. (30 mL) low sodium soy sauce
  • 2 Tbsp. (30 mL) water
  • 2 Tbsp. (30 mL) oyster sauce
  • 1/2 tsp. (2 mL) sesame oil
  • 1/4 tsp. (1 mL) hot sauce (optional)
  • Broccoli
  • 1 1/2 lbs (750 g) broccoli (approx. 1 head)
  • 1/2 C. (125 mL) green onions, chopped (approx. 6)
  • 1 Tbsp. (15 mL) chopped fresh ginger
  • 1 clove garlic, chopped
  • 2 Tbsp. (45 mL) Crisco® Pure Vegetable Oil or Crisco® Pure Canola Oil
  • Garnish
  • 1 Tbsp. (15 mL) sesame seeds

DIRECTIONS

  1. Sauce: Combine soy sauce, water, oyster sauce, sesame oil and hot sauce in small bowl. Stir mixture and reserve.
  2. Broccoli: Trim broccoli and cut into 1” (2.5 cm) pieces. Use both the florets and the stems. Keep them separate. Heat oil on medium-high heat in a wok or large skillet. Add ginger, green onions and garlic. Cook for 15 seconds, stirring constantly, being careful not to burn. Add broccoli stems and cook for 2 minutes. Add florets and reserved sauce, bring to a boil and cook for an additional 3 to 4 minutes until broccoli is coated.
  3. Pour into a serving dish and sprinkle with sesame seeds.
