Spooky Spider Web Cupcakes

INGREDIENTS

Spooky Spider Web Cupcakes

  • 1 1/2 C. (375 mL) all-purpose flour
  • 2/3 C. (150 mL) cocoa powder, sifted
  • 1 tsp. (5 mL) baking powder
  • 1 tsp. (5 mL) baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp. (1 mL) salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 3/4 C. (425 mL) sugar
  • 1/2 C. (125 mL) Crisco® Vegetable Oil or Crisco® Pure Canola Oil
  • 1 1/4 C. (300 mL) water, at room temperature
  • 450 g container prepared vanilla frosting
  • black and orange decorator gels
  • plastic spider rings (optional)

DIRECTIONS

  1. In a bowl, combine flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda and salt. In a large mixing bowl, combine eggs, sugar, oil and water and blend well. Add dry ingredients, stirring until smooth. Pour into18 paper-lined muffin cups. Bake in a preheated 350ºF (180ºC) oven for 25 to 30 minutes, or until toothpick inserted in centre comes out clean. Remove from pans and cool completely on wire rack.
  2. Frost each cupcake with vanilla frosting. Using decorator gels, pipe a spider web on each cupcake. If using, place a spider ring into centre of each web.
