Beef Noodle Soup

Makes: 4 to 6 servings

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp 30 mL Crisco® Vegetable Oil
  • 1/2 lb 250 g boneless beef sirloin steak, cut into thin strips
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 tbsp 15 mL Robin Hood® Original All Purpose Flour 
  • 4 cups 1 L beef or chicken broth
  • 3 cups 750 mL water
  • 1 1/4 cups 300 mL dry vermicelli or very fine egg noodles
  • salt and pepper
  • 1/4 cup 50 mL chopped green onion

Preparation

  1. Heat oil in 3-quart (3 L) saucepan. Add beef. Cook over medium-high heat until beef is browned.
  2. Add onion and garlic. Cook, stirring occasionally, for about 2 minutes, or until onion is tender. Stir in flour.
  3. Add broth. Heat to boiling, stirring occasionally. Add pasta and reduce heat to medium. Cook for about 8 minutes or until pasta is tender. Season with salt and pepper. Stir in green onions.
